Gary G. Cook, age 81, of Perry, New York, passed away on Wednesday April 5th at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
Gary was born in Fairport, NY on October 30, 1935 to the late George Jocelyn and Emma (Garver) Cook, his father passing away at an early age in World War I, his mother remarried to the late Joseph Cook who adopted Gary and they raised four children.
Gary was raised in Warsaw New York on the family farm on Rt. 20A, he was a graduate of Warsaw Central School class of 1953 where he remained friends with many of his classmates, and later graduated from Alfred Tech with his associates degree. He served with the US Army from 1957-1959. Gary worked for his father-in-law Frank Godlewski who owned Franks Electric in Perry, he later bought the business in 1973 and ran the business until retiring in 2010.
He was a former member of the Perry Kiwanis Club and Holy Name Society at the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, gardening, and remodeling his home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years to Sally (Godlewski) Cook, 2 children: Cheryl (Scott) Salter of Chesapeake Bay, VA., Ronald (Mary) Cook of Hurricane, W. VA., a sister: Beverly (Joseph) Sheridan of NJ., 2 brothers: Eugene (James) Cook of Sanborn, Tyron Cook of Fl.,former sister-in-law: Linda (John) Heinike of Lockport, 4 grandchildren: Stephanie Salter of MD, Derek (Rachael) Salter of WI, Michael Cook of TN, Katheryne Cook of NYC, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends may call from 1-3pm on Saturday April 8th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 3pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming County Veteran Services 26 Linwood Ave. Warsaw, New York 14569 or to Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home 167 N. Main St. Perry, NY 14530.
