John E. Thompson Jr.

John E. Thompson Jr., 52 of Gainesville passed away on Thursday September 7, 2017.
John was born in Massena, NY. on May 19, 1965 a son of the late John E. and Marion (Lober) Thompson Sr. He worked for the former Luster-Coat Metalizing in Churchville, and later for Beardsley Construction Company in Perry.
John was a big teddy bear with a big heart. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and greatly enjoyed times spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, fishing and writing poetry.
He is survived by his companion of 15 years: Penny Curtis of Gainesville, the mother of his children: Laurie Thompson of Alden, 2 daughters: Kimberly Boyles-Hopkins of Perry, Brenda Boyles of Angola, 4 sons: Scott Boyles of Angola, Brian (Jessica) Boyles of Buffalo, William (Ashley) Lantz of Wayland, Joseph Lantz of LeRoy, a sister: Helen (Dave) Hallor of Caledonia, 2 brothers: Brian (Kim) Laprade of Massena, NY, Charles (Kim) Laprade of North Lawrence, NY along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a sister: Ida Yeager and brothers: Edwin and Marvin Thompson. Family and friends may call from 6-7pm on Wednesday September 13, 2017 at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 7pm.
