John F. Cook

John Cook, age 74 of Pavilion, NY, formerly of Perry passed away on Tuesday November 7, 2023 at Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 1, 1949 in Warsaw, New York a son to the late Frederick S. and Janet L. (Cornwell) Cook.

John was a 1967 graduate of Perry Central High School and received his associates degree in Forestry from Paul Smith’s College.

He was a utility technician for Dominion Gas Company in Silver Springs retiring in 2004, after retirement he worked part time for Harts Insurance in Perry.

John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry, Perry Center Fire Department and the Constellation Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons #404 in Perry. He was a former member of the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo and Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Perry. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, camping on the “land” in Lamont, playing cards especially euchre, and loved his home, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Paulette E. (Lasky) Cook whom he married on August 18, 1973, daughter: Beth Ann (Peter Lewis) Cook of Perry, son: Michael (Amy) Cook of Pavilion, sisters: Suzanne (Thomas) Guesno and Cheryl Kelly both of Perry, brother-in-law: Michael Garrett of Avon, sisters-in-law: Chris Ludwig of Amherst, Karen (Renee Eberling) Lasky of Henrietta, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his parents John was preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia L. Cook and granddaughter: Elizabeth Kay

Hurlburt who passed away in 2001, twin sister: Jane Garrett who passed away in 2022 and brothers-in-law: James Kelly and Richard Ludwig.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Saturday November 11th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 North Main St. in Perry.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday November 12th at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church 35 Covington St. in Perry

John will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry Center.
