Marjorie Jane Shaw, 92 of Perry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw where she had been residing.
She was born in Perry, New York on May 10, 1926 a daughter to the late Guy C. and Mary Jane (Price) Shaw.
She was a graduate of Perry Central School and Fredonia State College.
Marjorie was an elementary school teacher teaching kindergarten in LeRoy for a year and then transferred to Perry Elementary school where she taught 2nd grade for over 30 years. She worked summers at the former Borden Milk Plant in Perry.
She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, Order of Eastern Star in Perry and the Delta Kappa Gamma. Marjorie had a great love of singing, she sang in the church choir since the age of 14, Perry Rotary chorus for over 60 years, York Opera for 10 years, the Community Chorus and the Genesee Coral Festival chorus for over 23 years. She enjoyed people, children, mowing her lawn, hiking and sking.
She is survived by 2 nieces: Joan Meyers of Attica, Betsy Shaw of Denver, Co., 2 nephews: James (Laura) Richards, Carl (Connie) Richards both of Silver Springs, along with many great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and 2 great great great nephews and many friends.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by siblings: Lucille “Bunny” (Gordon) Richards and Dan (Martha) Shaw, nephew: Harold Meyers,great nephew: Paul Richards and great niece Diana Shaw.
Family and friends may call from 11am-1pm on Saturday December 22nd at the Brick Presbyterian Church N. Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 1pm .
She will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be the Brick Presbyterian Church N. Main St. Perry, New York 14530 or to the Wyoming County 4-H program 36 Center St Suite B Warsaw, NY 14569.
