Norman Ross Lawton Jr.

Norman Ross Lawton Jr., age 64, of Perry passed away peacefully in his sleep March 10, 2017 at his home. He was born in Cuba, New York on October 17, 1952 to the late Norman Ross Lawton Sr. and Virginia Hope( Traver) Lawton. The family moved to Perry in 1960 where Norm lived until he married and moved away. He lived nearby in Mt. Morris and Geneseo before returning to Perry in 1986.
Prior to moving back to Perry, He lived in Geneseo where he was an active member of the Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance Squad for 12 years.
He graduated from Perry Central School in 1970. He attended Morrisville College for a short time, later attending Genesee Community College where he graduated in 2007 with a degree in business management.
Norman worked many years in the construction field. He also managed the former Valley View Lanes in Warsaw for owner Francis Herrmann and later worked with Keith Herrmann in his blacktopping business.
He enjoyed and was an active bowler for many years, attending Bingo in the area and greatly enjoyed fishing. He was a self taught crocheter who made beautiful afghans for his children, grandchildren as well as several friends. He was very active in an online Euchre league for many years. He was an excellent cook and baker, having learned his skills from his Mom at a much younger age. Before his illness he greatly enjoyed his time as a greeter for Special Olympics, working on improvements to his home as well as the landscaping. He enjoyed karaoke with his girls at family get-togethers.
He leaves behind his four daughters: Michelle Lawton of Perry, Deborah (Max) Lerotholi of Brooklyn, Brianne (Alex O’Brien) Lawton of Rochester, Nicole (Douglas) Stratton of Perry, former wife and friend: Donna Lynn Lawton of Perry, 6 grandchildren: Sierra Snyder, Jasmine Pfenninger, Anthony Lerotholi, Landon Stratton, Gematria Loucks (Stratton) and Hunter Stratton, a great grandchild to be: Sebastien Pfenninger,4 brothers: Harold (Gloria) Lawton of Rochester, Robert (Sarah Parsons) Lawton of Lakeville, James (Angelika) Lawton of Groton, CT., Raymond Lawton of FL., 2 sisters: Norma (Paul) Kraftchick of Lexington, NC, and Margaret (Bryan) Broedel of Cary, NC, 1 aunt: Beatrice Ruhl of WA., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Richard Lawton who passed away in 1962.
Family and friends may call from 11am-2pm on Thursday March 16th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 2pm.
He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
