Richard M. Eliasz , 67 of Silver Springs/Silver Lake, passed away following an accident on Tuesday August 10, 2021 at his lake home.
He was born on December 18, 1953 in Rochester, New York to the late Joseph J. and Helen (Tarala) Eliasz.
Rich was a graduate of Perry Central High School, SUNY Geneseo and received his Masters degree in Education from SUNY Empire.
He was a science teacher at Warsaw Central School, after retiring from Warsaw he was a long term substitute teacher at Letchworth Central.
Rich was a member of the First Congregational Church in Perry Center where he served as a Deacon. Additionally, Rich was active in the Silver Lake Association, The Wyoming County, Castile Village and Town planning boards, where he was essential in writing the Docking and Mooring laws that have been adopted by many municipalities throughout New York State. The Castile Library Board, Wyoming County American Cancer Association, Wooden Boat Society and the Artisan Guilds of Tin Smiths and Stained glass. He enjoyed working with his brother-in-law on his Maple Syrup Business, sailing on Silver Lake, riding his bicycle, doing crossword, listening to polka music, and family gatherings with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Jane A. (Randall) Eliasz whom he married on December 26, 1977, two daughters: Molly (Ed) Orman of Leicester, Maggie (Brian) Kulzer of Geneseo, brother: Robert Eliasz of Rochester, brother-in-laws: Norman (Sue) Randall of Castile, Eric (Eleanor) Randall of Alexander, 6 grandchildren: Bailey, Eliasz and Xavier Orman, Lilia, Oliver and Isaac Richard Kulzer, dear friend: Dan Saunders, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father -in-law: Burdette and June Randall and sister-in-law: E. Sue Eliasz.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 P.M. on Monday August 16th at the First Congregational Church 7209 Rt. 20A in Perry Center where services will be held on Tuesday August 17th at 11:00 A.M.
Rich will be laid to rest in West Perry Cemetery.
