Richard C. Patrick
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of husband and father, Richard Charles Patrick, 87, at his life-long home in Perry, NY on September 17, 2020.

Dad was born August 17, 1933 in Warsaw, NY, the youngest of three children, to the late Florence Mildred Tooley Patrick and Lawrence Charles Patrick. He met his future wife, Patricia Anne Barth, at a barn dance in Perry Center while they were still in school – both members of the Perry High School class of 1950. They were married in November 1953 and moved to the farm where Dad was raised, a home they would share for the next sixty-seven years. Dad and Mom spent those years as best friends, raising a family and operating a successful dairy farm.

Early on, Mom introduced Dad to the First United Methodist Church of Perry where he became a life-long member. Dad retired from farming in 1969 and began a new career with the NYS Division for Youth. He had a passion for helping people connect with nature and as a Sunday school teacher and youth supervisor would sometimes host picnics and outdoor events at the farm. Dad was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and conservationist, a kind and quiet man, who loved to spend time in the woods and fields with his dogs, and often said that was where he felt closest to God.

Dad is predeceased by his daughter, Linda Czyryca (1992); son Michael (2019); sister Eileen (Kenny) Boyd, brother Howard (Harriet); brother-in-law Robert Barth.

He is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Elizabeth; sons Christopher (Laurie) and Brian (Marsha); daughter-in-law Susan; son-in-law John Czyryca; sister-in-law Joanne Barth; brother-in-law Richard (Jessie) Barth; grandchildren Jordan Czyryca, Emily (Geoff) Phelps, David (Taylor) Patrick, Anthony Grimmelt, Charles, Riley, Lily, and Jacob Patrick; great grandchildren Hailie, Levee, and Hadley Mae Patrick; as well as loving nieces and nephews.

A private service is planned. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Perry.

The family wishes to thank Roslyn Kelly for her years of loving and compassionate care for our father.
