Benjamin Joseph Mezynski Jr., age 85 of Perry, NY passed away Monday October 17th, 2025.
He was born on May 13th, 1940 in Worchester, MA, and never totally lost his New England accent and was known as Joe to his family and friends there.
He taught French and Spanish at Avon Central in Avon, NY and retired after 33 years of teaching there. Ben also headed up many student foreign language trips at Avon through France, Spain, Portugal and a side trip to San Remo, Italy for Sunday pasta. He also taught French at the State University of NY in Geneseo, NY as an adjunct professor. Ben also taught English as a foreign language for a summer semester in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and later for a summer semester in San Pedro Cedro, Costa Rica.
Ben and his wife were married in 1968 and moved to Perry in 1969.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Helen V. (Ashbery) Mezynski, son: Father David Mezynski PhD of Rochester, daughter: Jennifer (Bart) Nagel of Jefferson, granddaughter: Jana, sister-in-law: Rona Mezynski, nephew: Steven (Michelle) Mezynski, their daughter: Julia, niece: Amy (Robert) Bruno, nephews: Andrew Dion, Thomas (Rachel) Dion and their daughters: Ava and Mia, He is also survived by a brother-in-law: Ted Antos, and a niece: Susan (Carter) Yohe.
Ben was predeceased his grandparents Fraciszek and Zafja “Sophia” (Pikulinski) Mezynski, Francesco and Maria Giuseppa (Bisceglia) Quitadamo, parents: Benjamin Joseph and Julia (Quitadamo) Mezynski Sr., sister: Donna Mezynski and brother: Roger Mezynski.
A graveside service will be held on Friday October 31, 2025 at 11:00am at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Perry.
