Carolyn J. VanAllen

Carolyn J. VanAllen, age 85, of Perry, passed away on Saturday March 7, 2026 at Suzanne's Comfort Care home in Perry after a lengthy battle with dementia.

She was born in Warsaw, New York on October 20, 1940, a daughter to the late Robert W. and Glenador (Hull) Patrick.

Carolyn was a graduate of Perry Central High School Class of 1958 where she was the class Valedictorian. She graduated from Alfred State College in 1960.

She worked at Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia as a lab technician where she was in charge of the Blood Bank until retiring in 1986.

Carolyn married Lewis VanAllen in 1960. Together they owned and operated the former Corner Café in Perry.

She and Lewis enjoyed having several thoroughbred horses, including one winner at Finger Lakes Race Track.

During her school years she was an excellent seamstress. Besides making some of her own clothes, made her own gown for prom and school concerts where she played the violin.

Carolyn was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, Daughters of the American Revolution "DAR", Perry Order of Eastern Star, Wyoming County Grange, Perry VFW Post 5009 Ladies Auxiliary and Antique Car Club with her late husband Lewis. She enjoyed sewing, baking, decorating cakes and doing various craft work. After retirement she and Lewis enjoyed wintering in Florida. She was active in aqua aerobics, going to flea markets and was past secretary for Breezy Village where she and Lewis were snowbirds.

She is survived by 2 sisters: Dorothy (John) Magee of Chambersburg, PA, Mary Kohl of Olean along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with her parents Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband: Lewis B. VanAllen who passed away on February, 11, 2017 and brother: John Patrick who passed away on February 19, 2014.

Family and friends may call from 1-4pm on Saturday March 14th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 4pm.

Carloyn will be laid to rest in Leicester Cemetery in Leicester, NY.
