Dorothy D. Kelly

Dorothy D. (Waite) Kelly, age 95, of LeRoy, (formerly of Perry), passed away at home Friday January 2, 2026.

She was born in Covington, New York on January 19, 1930, a daughter to the late Harry R. and Pearl E. (Sage) Shepard.

Dorothy was a graduate of LeRoy Central High School.

She worked for Genesee-Wyoming BOCES retiring in 1989.

Dorothy attended the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry. She enjoyed spending time with her family, often playing games like Euchre and dominoes. She will be remembered for being competitive and most often, securing the win! She also enjoyed word search puzzles, spending time in her flower gardens and loved wintering in Florida with Pete.

She is survived by children: Kathy (Gary) Nichols of Pavilion, Douglas (Suzy) Waite of Pavilion, Mark (Gerry) Waite of Vero Beach, Fl., Laura (Marty) Brodie of LeRoy , step-son: Terry (Brenda) Kelly of Hornell, sisters: Sandra Sherman of LeRoy, Sharon (Russell) Kelso of LeRoy, brother: Robert (Barbara) Shepard, 9 grandchildren: Stephen (Chelsea), Jeffrey, Todd (Denise),Adam, Jordan, Darren (Angelina), Ashley (Kyle), Megan (Mitch) and Matthew, 4 step-grandchildren: Jon, Yvette (Rob), Yvonne (Joel) and Lars (Kate), 7 great grandchildren: Josephine, Lennon, Isla, Chase, Rhett, Desmond and Maycie, many nieces, nephews, and a long-term friend/caregiver: Savannah Read of Batavia.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband: Norman E. Waite who passed away in 1980, 2nd husband Howard A. “Pete” Kelly who passed away in 2022, son: Thomas Waite, sister and brother-in-law: Ruby (Reid) Ackley, brother and sister-in-law: Russell (Susan) Shepard and brother-in-law: Gerald Sherman.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dorothy will be laid to rest in Pavilion Cemetery in Pavilion.
