Edward Valentine Jurkowski (Edziu to his family) was born on February 5, 1943 and passed away, surrounded by his loving family on October 11,2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was 82 years old.
Throughout his life, Ed was known for his amazing sense of humor, his ability to make everyone feel at home, his sense of style, the ability to buy something at an antique store and get it to fit perfectly in to his home, the love that he had for his friends and family AND the irreplaceable love that he had for his dog, Izzy.
After he graduated from Perry High School in 1961, he had aspirations of being a priest and went to the local seminary for a year. When he decided that it really wasn't for him, he joined the air force, where he was stationed in Honolulu. After being honorably discharged, Ed started his career in human resources with Weinstocks Stores in Sacramento, CA and then as the Regional Director of Human Resources of Mervyn’s stores of Southern California. After retiring from HR, Ed found a new passion and that was owning and operating his own gift/antique store in Pass Christian, MS.
Not only did Ed's love of travel take him around the world to many places, but he also was able to live in in several parts of the US, finally settling in Geneseo, NY, where he really loved his historic house and all of the people he met there.
Ed is survived by his daughter: Tina Jurkowski, son: Tim Jurkowski (Katy), grandchildren: Sophia (25), Emma (23), Olivia (22) and John (18), sister: Marie Beachel (Jack), older brother: John Jurkowski, Jr. (Ginni), nieces and nephews: Tamara Jurkowski Quilty, Kathy Jurkowski Jaggard, Brock Beachel, Elizabeth Jurkowski Hornak, Janine Jurkowski and Bradley Phillips. He was thankful for his friendship with Charlene Jurkowski and for the love of all his cousins and many friends!
Ed was preceded in death by his parents: John Jurkowski and Helen Szymanski Jurkowski, his younger brother: Gary Jurkowski and his longtime partner of 38 years: John Harris.
