Eugene J. Hourihan

Perry - Eugene J. Hourihan, 77 of Perry passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025 at his home.

Mr. Hourihan was born July 13, 1947 in Elmira, a son of the late Eugene J. and Eileen (Hanrahan) Hourihan.

Gene was a man whose deep love for music, photography, nature, and books shaped a life filled with curiosity and creativity. He found great joy in sharing his passions with those around him, always eager to pass on his knowledge and inspire others. Most recently, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond words. He leaves behind a legacy of wonder and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Surviving is his wife, Mary (Donovan) Hourihan of Perry; daughters, Sarah (Paul) McLaughlin of Kenmore and Clare (Mac Lawrence) Hourihan of Albany; grandsons, Henry and Nolan McLaughlin; brother, Jerry (Lynneanne) Hourihan of Stamford, CT; niece and nephews, Michael, Maureen, and Patrick Hourihan; and the Donovan Clan: Matt, Mike (Jeanne), Bill, Paul (Arlene), Katie (Jerry) Utter and many nieces and nephews.

In death, Eugene is reunited with his parents, his sister, Maureen Hourihan, and nephew Dan Utter.

Honoring Eugene's wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family, but please celebrate his appreciation of the arts by listening to your favorite record, enjoying a new mystery novel or capturing a photo of a beautiful place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Perry Rescue Squad or UR Medicine Movement Disorders Clinic in his memory. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, 98 N.
