Florence L. Rice

Florence L. Rice, age 94, of Perry, passed away on Sunday June 22, 2025 at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw where she was residing.
She was born in Silver Springs, New York on November 10, 1930, a daughter to the late Ralph and Ella Woodworth Irwin.
Florence worked for the former Perry Dry Cleaners, cleaned for the Perry Vets Club, sold Avon Products and worked at the Perry Elementary School cafeteria for many years retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, Perry Vets Club, Silver Lake Sportsman’s Club, Perry VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Perry Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Warsaw Moose Club, Warsaw Vets Club and the former Dom Polski. She enjoyed collecting tea pots and salt and pepper shakers, dancing, going to the casino and raising her large family.
She is survived by a daughter: Linda Shepard of Perry, 2 sons: Jeffrey (Mary) Rice of Silver Lake, Brian (Lee) Rice of Perry, daughter-in-law: Polly Rice of Leicester, 4 sisters: JoAnn Butler of Perry, Betty (Alfred) Kelly of Perry, Nancy (Raymond) Minnick of Castile and Lucille Kozak of Short Tract, brothers: Nelson (Judy) Irwin of Auburn, Carl (Judy) Irwin of Perry and David (Chris) Irwin of Perry 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with her parents Florence is preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Benjamin Rice who passed away in 1998, daughter: Cynthia (Michael) Laraby who both passed away in 2011, sons: Thomas Irwin Rice who passed away in 1961, Paul Rice who passed away in 2015, Steven Rice who passed away in 2019, son-in-law: Robert Shepard who passed away in 2012, grandson: Matthew Rice who passed away in 2020, siblings: Shirley (Duane) Wilcox, Howard (Phyllis) Irwin and Ernest Irwin, brothers-in-law: Robert Kozak and Donald Butler.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday June 26th at 11:00am at Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
