Gail C. Humphrey

Gail C. Humphrey (nee Crawford) December 8, 1942-August 25, 2024.

She was born to the late Ernest Wusthof Crawford and Laura (Buell) Crawford-MacNaughton.

Gail was a 1960 graduate of Perry Central High School, University of Buffalo for Dental Assistant and earned her Real Estate license.

She was the former owner/operator of the Perry Liquor Store. She worked for the late Dr. Warren Fong DDS., the late Russell Clark Reality and the former Village Department Store as an Interior Decorator.

Gail was an avid golfer; who proudly supported the Silver Lake Country Club later to be Silver Lake Golf Course. She played and supported many other local and state golf courses. She was the first women to serve on the Board of Directors at the Silver Lake Country Club and was a great representative of the club. She also enjoyed reading traveling and doing crossword puzzles.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She attended the First Congregational Church in Perry Center. She was a Director for the Pioneer Association, where she volunteered at the annual Pioneer picnic meeting old friends and making new friends. A member of the Wyoming Foundation, Wyoming County YMCA. Friends of Letchworth State Park, Humphrey Nature Center and Autism Trail in Letchworth.

Gail was a proud supporter to many local organizations throughout Perry, Wyoming County and Letchworth State Park throughout the years. Some of her favorites were to the Perry and Perry Center Fire Departments, Perry Emergency Ambulance, Perry Public Library, Prospect Hill Cemetery Association, Perry Village Park, First United Methodist Church and First Congregational Church.

She is survived by her daughter: Elizabeth Witherel Eriksen of Sarasota, Fl., Step-children: David (Mary) Humphrey of North Carolina, Richard (Con) Humphrey of Perry, Susan Humphrey Brown of Lancaster, step-daughter-in-law: Mary Carrol Humphrey in Gahanna, Ohio, nieces and nephews: Caroline (John) Crawford Barca, Heidi (Karl) Crawford Fry, Ernest Crawford, Russell (Brenda) Crawford, along with their families and her favorite cousin: Lucinda (Buell) Boyer of Perry.

Along with her parents, Gail is preceded in death by her husband: Donald G. Humphrey who passed in 2001, grandson: John Paul Eriksen who passed in 2021 and brothers: John and Laurence Crawford, step-son: Robert W. Humphrey.

A gathering at the Club at Silver Lake 3820 Club Rd. in Perry will be held on October 27th from 2-5 pm.  

Gail will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemtery in Perry.
