James E. “Big Bird” Majchrzak, age 79 of Perry, NY, passed away on Friday December 2, 2022 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst.
He was born on February 21, 1943 in Buffalo, NY to the late Edward and Lydia F. Narowski) Majchrzak.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Kensington High School, Erie County Community College, and the GM apprenticeship program.
He was a tool maker for General Motors-American Axle in Buffalo, retiring in 2005. He was the co-owner of Wyoming County International Speedway in Perry.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Warsaw, the MMA, Buick Club, Knights of Columbus, TTOS, TTCS, TCA and the Antique Automobile Club. He was an avid collector and dealer of antique cars, trains and toys.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years: Irene A. (Porzio) whom he married on April 11, 1964, loving father of Melissa (the late Donald) Buckley of Boston, James J. (Polly) of Perry, Jason (Nina) of West Seneca, cherished grandfather to Daniel, Samantha and Nathan Majchrzak, Shelby and Joshua Buckley, brother-in-law and uncle to the Porzio and Packman families, cousins and friends closest to him-Tom Szaras, Jay Szaras, Gary Milsom, Bill Burke and Skip Milsom.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his dear sister and brother-in-law: Diana D. (Donald) Packman.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm Thursday December 15th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday December 16th at 10am at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church 171 N. Main St. in Warsaw.
