Janet M. Phillips, age 76, of Silver Springs passed away on Monday November 8, 2021 at her home.
She was born on November 18,1944 in Smethport, PA., a daughter to the late Melvin V. and Elizabeth M. (Sweet) Tenglund-Hull.
Janet was a graduate of Port Allegany High School, she received her associate’s degree in nursing from Houghton College and bachelor’s degree in nursing from Corning Community College and she received her bachelor’s degree in teaching at Robert’s Wesleyan College.
She worked as a Registered nurse at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo and for Doctor’s McCallum, Williams and Bone in Warsaw. Janet was a teacher at the former Tiny Tot University in Perry, and was a long term substitute teacher for Perry Elementary School.
Janet was a member of Hope Chapel in Perry, Mutual Friends group through the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, Class Original through the Perry Baptist Church and the Valley Chapel Ladies Quilting group, she enjoyed sewing, camping shopping and most importantly raising her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: David Phillips whom she married on April 24, 1974, daughter: Sarah (William) Marsh of Pike, sons: Charles S. “Chip” (Kate Welshofer) Matthews II of Silver Springs, David (Judy) Phillips II of Silver Springs, Tedd (Julie) Phillips of Silver Springs, Andrew (Joy) Phillips of Syracuse, Vern (Laurie) Phillips of Ocala, FL., father-in-law: Calvin Phillips of Silver Springs, 18 grandchildren, 2 nieces: Melissa and Amanda along with many dear friends.
Along with her parents she was predeceased in death by her 1st husband: Charles S. Matthews who passed away in 1970, son-in-law: Ryan Almeter, daughter-in-law: Sarah Matthews, brother: Gerald Tenglund and step father Robert J. Hull.
Family and friends may call from 12-2pm on Saturday November 13th at the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church 3415 Rt. 19 S in Warsaw where services will follow at 2pm.
Janet will be laid to rest in Grace Cemetery in Castile.
