Jean C. Griswold, age 86, of Perry, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Home in Warsaw, where she had been residing.
Jean was born in Warsaw, New York, on September 13, 1939, to the late Charles and Edna (Wright) Currie. She grew up in the Pavilion area and graduated from Pavilion Central High School, where she was active in cheerleading, the National Honor Society, and Student Council. Jean later earned her RN degree in Nursing and dedicated her career to caring for others. She worked for many years at St. Jerome’s Hospital in Batavia, serving as a Nursing Supervisor until her retirement.
Jean married her high school sweetheart, Roy Griswold, in 1960, and together they built a loving family and shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry and lived her life with kindness, grace and appreciation for adventure.
She enjoyed traveling and gardening, and some of her favorite trips included visits with family and exploring new places. Jean also cherished spending time with her grandmother in her youth and loved attending school dances, especially square dancing.
Jean is survived by her husband Roy Griswold of Perry; her sons Michael Griswold of Meridian ID, Patrick Griswold of Eagle CO, Scott Griswold and Matt Griswold, both of Perry; two grandchildren, Stephen Griswold of Boise, ID, and Allyson Turner of Nampa, ID; and six great-grandchildren: Rylee, Hayley, Sophie, Anna Leigh, Payton, and Kenney. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister
Family and friends may call from 1-3pm on Sunday January 4th at the First United Methodist Church 35 Covington St. Perry, New York, where a service will follow at 3pm.
