John W. Herman

John William Herman 1936-2021
John W. Herman passed from this world on April 27, 2021 at the Wyoming County
Nursing Facility in Warsaw, NY.
He was born on January 30, 1936 to Leonard and Cecil (Long) Herman in Edgerton,
OH.
He attended St. Mary’s School in Edgerton and graduated from the Oblate Father’s
Academy in Newburgh, NY. John served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from
1957 to 1960. He worked for many years as a Salesman for Agricultural Equipment and
later as a Rural Postal Currier. He loved his Family and his Church. He was a member
of St. Joseph’s in Perry, and he enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Joseph’s and St.
Mary’s in Silver Springs. He was a Member of the Knights of Columbus since age 18.
He was always friendly and helpful.
In his retirement he enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada, especially the “Rockies.”
John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Christine (Lang) Herman, his daughter Monica
Herman of Warsaw, NY, his son Francis Herman (Autumn Standingwolf) of Buffalo, NY,
his granddaughter Erica Herman (Mik Kern) of Ithaca, NY, two sisters Alice Moriarty of
Napoleon, OH and Sr. Marcella Herman, Order of St. Francis (OSF) of Tiffin, OH, and
many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edward and Paul Herman, his
sisters Sr. Marie Herman (OSF) and Sr. Carol Herman (OSF), sister-in-laws Georgine
(Lang) Wilson and Willadean Herman, and brother-in-laws Charles Wilson and Dr. Tom
Moriarty.
We will always remember John with Love and Gratitude.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 7
th
at 11am at St. Isidore’s
Catholic Parish (St. Joseph’s Church) in Perry.
John will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Perry.
