Judy A. Thewke

Judy A. Thewke, age 83, of Perry, passed away on Friday April 17, 2026 at Suzanne's Comfort Care home in Perry after a battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Warsaw, NY on December 29, 1942, a daughter to the late Robert J. and Elcy M. (Luce) Altoft.

Judy was a 1960 graduate of Perry Central High School and received her associate's degree in medical laboratory technology from Alfred State in 1962.

She started out her working career at Mary Imogene Medical Hospital in Cooperstown as a research technician in the cardio-pulmonary lab, University of Missouri Medical Center as a research technician for cardiologist and the as a ward clerk on the medical floor/ICU in Columbia, MO, Columbia House Healthcare as a records clerk in Columbia, MO, New Hampshire Foundation for Medical Care as a data clerk in Dover, NH, and lastly retired from Wentworth-Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH where she was a health unit coordinator.

She is a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Columbia, Missouri. Judy had a great love of music. She sang in the Alfred State College Choir where she met her husband, who also was in the choir, over a book about insects she was holding that he had lent to her roommate. She sang in church choirs, the "Mother Singers" in Missouri, who would travel to schools, nursing homes and various places to sing for people. In addition to music, Judy loved reading and birdwatching. She also cherished her family and friends and extended that love to them by remembering them as she sent each of them cards in the mail for every special occasion.

She is survived by a daughter: Heidi (Dennis) Shields of Solon, Iowa, son: Erik Thewke of Perry, siblings: James Altoft, Gloria Altoft both of Warsaw, Mary Jane Halstead of Perry, 3 grandchildren: Nicole Wilkins (#1), Matthew (Karyn) Thewke, Emily (Nathan) Armstrong, 6 great grandchildren: Olivia and Lucas Johns, Ian and Sawyer Armstrong, Owen and Julia Thewke, along with many cousins, great cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Along with her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband: Siegfried Thewke who passed away in 2021, brother: William Altoft, sisters-in-law: Jill Altoft, Kyle Wixson-Altoft, brothers-in-law: David Noniewicz and Richard Halstead, niece: Rachel Lafferty, nephew: Brad Altoft and great nephew: Lucas Dillon.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Judy will be laid to rest in LaGrange Cemetery in Covington.
