Kathleen J. Hutcherson

Castile – Kathleen J. Hutcherson, 77, of Castile, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her home.

Kathy was born on April 27, 1948, in Columbia, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Russell and Janet (Habel) Frey.

Kathy had a gift for making people feel welcome and loved, whether it was while meeting her friends at El Giro’s Mexican Restaurant, playing the slots at the casino, or simply sharing stories over a home-cooked meal. She had a knack for cooking far too much food—always making sure no one ever left her table hungry. At home, she found comfort in the quiet moments, often snuggled up with her beloved cat.

Kathy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Gina (Steve) Mackey of Enola, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer (Joel) Desjardin of East Bethany; step-children, Jennifer Lynn (Thomas) Ebersole of Pennsylvania and Gerald (Jodi) Jacobs of Florida; and her cherished grandchildren, Josh, Jacob, Chris, Caleb, Kali, Zach, and Maddy. She also leaves behind her sister, Rosemary (late Jim) Ackerman of Pennsylvania; her brother, Glenn Frey of Pennsylvania; her brother-in-law, Glenn Wall of Pennsylvania; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Kathy is reunited in heaven with her parents; her husbands, Jerry Jacobs and Earnie Hutcherson; her brother, Jim Frey; and her sisters, Bonnie (late Ken) Witmer and Peggy Wall.

A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or to a no-kill animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
