Kathleen S. "Kathy" Schneider, age 80, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Home. Born in Nunda, New York, on January 8, 1946, she was the beloved daughter of the late Alvah D. Karns and Margaret L. (Kelly) Karns-Essler.

Kathy was a proud 1962 graduate of Nunda High School and furthered her education by receiving an Associate's Degree in nursing. For over 22 years, she dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse at Wyoming County Community Hospital, where her compassion and commitment made a lasting impact on many lives.

A woman of diverse interests, Kathy found joy in knitting, baking, and playing cards with friends and family. Her love for sports, especially her hometown team, the Buffalo Bills, was infectious. She also cherished her winters spent in Florida with her husband, Bill, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Kathy is survived by her son, Derrick Schneider; her sisters, Linda Ann (Jerry) Westacott of Wayland and Karen (Arthur) Karns-Shearing of Warsaw; her brothers-in-law, Fay (Anna) Schneider of Conesus Lake, and Terry Lowell of Dalton and her two dear nieces, Courtney Marquart and Jodi Westacott, along with several other cherished family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William S. Schneider, who passed away on February 19, 2011.

A memorial service will be held to honor Kathy's life at the Dalton United Methodist Church, located at 10074 State St. in Dalton, on Saturday August 1st at 2:00pm. Family and friends are encouraged to come together to celebrate her life and the love she brought to so many.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to your local ASPCA or to the Dalton United Methodist Church to honor Kathy's caring spirit and love for animals.

Kathy's warmth and kindness will be deeply missed but remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kathleen was preceded in death by: husband, William Schneider, parents Alvah Karns, Margaret Karns-Essler, sister-in-law: Connie Lowell.
