Melvin L. Huff, age 87, of Perry, NY passed away Tuesday February 10th, 2026 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
He was born on February 23rd, 1938 in Leicester, NY to the late Roy and Evelyn R. (Cooper) Huff.
Mel worked for the late Ken Popp from 1957-1969 working with heavy equipment. He retired from the Rochester’s Engineer’s Union #832 (Keeler Construction) in 2000. After retirement he returned back to work farming with his cousin Norman Partick at his farm.
He loved the Lord and celebrated his love for Christ as a member of the Family Life Church in Warsaw. He had a great love of running large heavy equipment, working in his yard or just being outside. He especially loved his family and dogs, spending as much time with them as possible. Mel also enjoyed doing word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and birdwatching.
He is survived by his wife: Norma Jean Rhodes of Perry, children: Michelle (Michael) Lapiana, Timothy (Polly) Huff and Dennis (Cathy) Huff all of Perry, brother: Gary (Linda) Huff of Perry, step-children: Kathryn Irwin of Warsaw, Karen (Jon) Cox of Tennessee and Daniel (Melanie) Rhodes of Warsaw, 5 grandchildren: Amanda (Travis) Fitzsimmons, Joshua (Amanda) Lapiana, Matthew Lapiana, Emily and Grace Huff, several step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren: Scarlett, Tanner and Jaiden, several step great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with his parents, Mel is preceded in death by his wife: Bonnie L. (Bernard) Huff who passed away in 2024, granddaughter: Tabitha Huff who passed away in 2000.brothers: Raymond and Leonard Huff.
Family and friends may call from 2-4pm on Monday February 16th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 4pm.
Melvin will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
