Richard J. Standish, age 86 formerly of Perry and Dansville, NY passed away peacefully into his eternal home on Sunday March 3, 2024 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation where he had been residing.
He was born on August 13, 1937 in Warsaw, New York a son to the late Delbert A. and Harriett (Pierce) Standish.
Richard “Dick”, was a great man with a kind giving heart. He was loving and everyone’s favorite bus driver and milkman. He loved to drive his tractor around the lake during the tractor rallies and always had a smile. He also liked his old cars, tractors, camping and listening to country music. He drove school bus for Henry L. Hill for 33 years. He also worked at Golden Acres Dairy Bar delivering milk to homes, businesses and schools in Wyoming County. He did work for a short time at Agway in Perry, as well. He was a good farmer and enjoyed tending to his animals. He was a wonderful husband to June, and a great father and grandfather to his family. He was a great caregiver to his family when there were many needs. He will be missed and is enjoying his new address at 777 Streets of Gold, Heaven. His name is in God’s Book of Life!
He is survived by his loving daughter: Rebecca (Paul) Kasperek of Owego, loving sister and brother-in-law: Linda (Thomas) Biondolillo of Conesus, 3 grandchildren: Crystal (Brian) Lanpher, Isaac Paul and Josiah Richard Kasperek, 2 great grandchildren: Katie Ann and Sarah Marie Lanpher, good friend: Waneta Krauss, along with many nieces, nephews and friends survive.
Along with his parents Dick is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years: June S. Standish who passed away in 2011, and daughter: Marsha Ann Dow who passed away in 2017, in-laws: Ward and Grace Slocum.
Family and friends may call from 7-9pm on Thursday March 7th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 N. Main St. in Perry. Graveside services will be held on Friday March 8th at 11am at West Perry Cemetery in Perry. A lunch to follow services.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for your love, care and kindness to Richard during his stay.
