Robert G. “Bob” Scott Jr. age 80 of Castile, New York passed away on Sunday August 24, 2025 at the Villages of Orleans Nursing Facility in Albion.

He was born on June 19, 1945 in Pampa, Texas, a son of the late Robert G. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Ballantyne) Scott. One year later his family settled in Rockland County, NY.

Bob was a 1963 graduate of Haverstraw Stony Point High School and a 1967 graduate of Alfred University. Upon graduation from college, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Army and served in the 2nd Battalion 78th Field Artillery in Germany. Following his tour of active duty he received a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Pace University in New York City.

Bob worked in various financial service capacities for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York for over 30 years. In August, 2001 he moved to Wyoming County to pursue a desire to work in Agriculture and joined Western New York Crop Management Association in Warsaw, NY. In 2022 he elected to work part time for this agribusiness firm and part time for Letchworth State Park. Bob helped his sister and brother-in-law (Betsy and Butch) for 24 years with their crop business, harvesting sweet corn, pumpkins and other produce for their roadside stands.

Bob attended the First Congregational Church in Perry Center and was a member of the Perry Rotary Club where he had received the Paul Harris Award. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, bicycling, hiking, and especially cherished time spent with family. “Bob was a great Brother, Uncle and Great Uncle who would drop everything to spend time with them.”

Bob is survived by a sister: Betsy (Leslie “Butch”) DeGroff of Perry, Brother: James P. “Jim” Scott of The Netherlands, Nephews: Scott (Erin) DeGroff of Warsaw, Dean (Denise) DeGroff of Castile, Doug (Alison) DeGroff of California, several grand nieces and nephews: Kelly (Dan) Roche, Dean (Macy) DeGroff, Brooke, Nate, Hailey, Drew, Luke, Makenna DeGroff 2 great grand nieces: Vivian Roche and Alana DeGroff along with numerous cousins and many friends.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Bob will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
